The Middle of Nowhere

This work is a detail from a body of work which consists of three interrelated video projections ‘exposure’ ‘the middle of nowhere’ and ‘machine I’ that play on the relationship between the human body, specifically the mouth and the architectural spaces used.  Slowly I use saliva to create bubbles, which are the residue of attempting to use my lips as an aperture which projects onto film in my mouth, the mouth becoming a camera.  The work is about out ‘being’ which challenges the Cartesian view and Descartes notion that ‘art is a mode of thinking according to our intellect rather than a definition of our access to being’.
